We have a scrap business. As such, we are always in need of
knives. While we do sharpen them to
maximize on the life of each blade eventually, they have to be replaced. Recently, the guy who used to help us with
new blades retired and now we were flying solo.
It was my job to find a new source for knives and hopefully they would
also have shredding equipment as we were in the market for an extra machine or
two.
Normally, I don’t mind doing this
type of research, but we were in a bit of a time crunch and the clock was
ticking. We are a low keyed type of
business and are far from stuffed shirts.
In translation that means that we expect respect, but do not want to pay
for attitude. So many places I have
called are uninformed and have little knowledge of our type of business. It is as though the companies I have
contacted are filled with recent college grads with absolutely no experience
with the type of machinery
we use.
I was almost at my wits end. There are many big names out there which
